Simlab 3D Plugins STEP importer for SketchUp
I am looking for simple extension to manually unfold 3d models.I found "Unwrap and Flatten Faces" extension, but did not discovered how to use is manually. There's Flattery. There are instructions for Alex's Unwrap and Flatten Faces on the EW page. And a link to his site for more information at the bottom of the instructions.

The Flattery plugin created by Pumpkin Pirate is a great unfolding tool. This plugin is similar to the Unfold Tool but provides the user much more control. This plugin allows you to unfold an object, then edit the way the object unfolds, add connecting tabs to help with connecting the model, and exporting it as a svg file.

This extension allows the user to do three things: Unwraps non-coplanar faces (any shape objects, shells etc.) using an automatic (randomized) algorithm and then lays the resulting set of faces flat on the ground. This is done without creating any distortions. Lays any arbitrarily-oriented face or collection of coplanar faces flat on the ground (without distortion). Use e.g. in combination.

Posted by: Joe S , January 28, 2010. The Unfold tool by Jim at SketchUp Plugins Blog is a plugin that allows you to unfold 3d objects into a 2d plane. Like a kindergarten project, where you cut out the paper and fold on the lines to make a box. It works really well if you need to unfold a model to make a 3d paper mockup or for metal working.

As you can see in the image above, if all faces are aligned the same (as in the topmost model where all fronts point outwards), the three faces unwrap correctly. If neighboring faces have a different orientation, however, (as in the model in the lower half of the picture), then the unfolding process ends up placing faces on top of neighboring.

Right click > Unwrap and flatten faces > Unwrap and flatten. Once you have the extension installed, all it takes is the click of a button to use the sketchup unfold tool! Right click on your 3D model and hover over "unwrap and flatten faces" to select "unwrap and flatten.". A message may pop up warning you that errors may occur.
